purchasing airline tickets online - when is the best time to purchase?
Q. When is the best time to purchase international airline tickets online? I had heard that the best deals only appear about 2 months before departure date, as that is when airlines will try to get rid of their empty seats - has anyone heard this or am I all wrong. I'm getting concerned - we are planning a trip to France in June and right now, tickets are expensive - but I wonder if they will be cheaper in April.

A. Well, a to-be abandoned rail line is almost always offered for sale to a private railroad/business/individ ual or public agency before later possibly being used a rail/trail. To answer your question, it certainly will not be cheap. Even if a railroad is just wanting to rid itself of a line it will usually at least cost a few million dollars (if it is longer than, say, a few miles). And yes, a private individual can purchase a rail line, even if it is abandoned, you would only have to ask the owner if they will sell it to you (being abandoned means the rail line is still owned by the owner that abandoned it, it is just no longer used in revenue service). It works well for tossing and allows a two handed carry. Get a thick heavy one so that the heat is distributed better Get one with a flat bottom (small flat bottom) so that it can sit on the burner without one of those dreadful heat rings. Depending on the country and airport, the items will be delivered to you when you are physically boarding the plane. There is no way to leave the airport and return. Q. I always see on Forensic Files and other shows about murderers, they are able to purchase a life insurance policy for their spouse or relative without the person's knowledge. Then they kill the person for the money. Why are they able to buy a life insurance policy without the person knowing about it? For larger life insurance policies, there are medical exams, blood tests, EKG's, etc., to qualify the insured for the coverage. No one can go through those tests without knowing the reason. The insured could have bought a large policy, and made the spouse, or other perpetrator with an insurable interest the beneficiary. If somebody wants another out of his/her life so bad that they would resort to muder, the insurance isn't going to make that much of a difference. The crime will probably be attempted anyway. Q. I want to add widgets to canned beer that my factory is producing. I have looked on the internet but have not found any detailed technical information about this technology. I'm willing to purchase this from a can producer, but I have no idea how to find one on the internet that provides this technology. Any information/help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A. Both the nitrogen widget and the rocket widget are patented by Guinness. You aren't going to find much technical info on them, and chances are they won't let you use it since it's part of their marketing program.

I had to purchase a gun for my work. Can this be used as a tax deduction on my 2008 return?
Q. I also have to purchase body armor. This would be considered a work expense and deductible correct? Which forms do I need to report this on? Ok. I don't normally itemize any items. Just this year I had to purchase this gun for around $400. Not much but still I have to buy a bullet resistant vest which cost a lot more. And I was just wondering about this. Thanks.

A. Before spending too much time doucmenting this, how much is your AGI? How much did you spend? Do you normally itemize? Unreimbursed employee business expenses are reduced by 2% of your AGI and then added to schedule A. If you are single, you must have more than $5450 of itemized deductions to see a difference. If you can use these, you need to show the following: 1. That these were ordinary and necessary for your job. 2. That your employer would not reimburse you if you had asked. 3. What you spent (both invoice and copy of check/credit card statement.)
