Q. I am enrolled in a sterile processing tech school which is about $1300, and lasts about a month. I was looking for jobs and ofcourse no one posts how much they pay but there are openings (I live in SF Bay Area). Is this a good job? And how much do they make starting? Any, ANY opinions are welcome, I havent had work in 8 months and HATE it! Any suggestions for quick medical training or thoughts would be greatly appreciated, plz be respectful. Asked by Antonio - Sat Oct 10 15:47:49 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. When I was taking the SPD course, I was told by my instructor that it really depends where you work. I currently reside in the "central valley" but went to train out in the Dublin/Pleasanton area and was told the valley average wage is about $15-18. Bay Area average is about $22 and SF was the most with about $27 starting. But my instructor works for kaiser, so this might be kaiser's average wages. they pay top dollar but you need experience and cert. to even have a chance. haha. You haven't worked for 8 months, huh? i finished the course in january, got certified through cbspd in may, and I'm still in the same position I was a year ago when i started the course. lol. Q. I just got my first credit card processing monthly statement bill and it was way up high than I expected. I scrutinized the items and I discover I incurred surcharges. What are some of the hidden surcharges I need to know? Asked by Eleanor - Thu Aug 16 23:10:10 2007 - - 3 Answers - 1 Comments A. Check the contract you signed. There should be a schedule of your rates and fees attached. You need to call your credit card processor's customer service number and have them review your statement with you in detail to make sure you were charged correctly. The main reason most merchants pay more than they expect is because they expect to be charged the rate quoted. That only happens when the transaction is "qualified". That means that the transaction is swiped and reads in the machine and the card itself is not subject to surcharges, such as an airline mileage card in some cases. If the magnetic stripe doesn't read or it is a phone order and you have to key the card number the transaction downgrades and surcharges apply. That is… [cont.] Answered by Pattycake - Sat Aug 18 21:51:22 2007 How does protein processing and degradation affect gene expression?
Q. Hi guys, here's my question for genetics class: How does protein processing and degradation affect gene expression? Thank you for your help:) Asked by S-man - Sun Nov 23 00:18:12 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. there are several checkpoints where you can regulate gene expression. One place is right after the RNA is translated. There are some proteins whose purpose is to chop up the newly-made protein into iddy bitty peices. Why? No idea, seems terribly inefficient, but that's one form of regulation. There are also "chaperone" proteins which help new proteins fold into their correct shape.
