How do you flavour popcorn from a popcorn maker?
Q. On my popcorn maker you can't put salt or sugar in with the corns, and if I add them afterwards it doesn't stick to the popcorn. Maple syrup works, and butter, but how else can I flavour it?

A. oooh! i have one of those! well when the popcorn comes out, have a brown bag ready to catch it. after its done, heat up some butter, pour it over the popcorn, close the bag and shake. then put some salt in it, and shake some more. instead of butter, u could use caramel. and then shake. a lot. enjoy!

where can I buy a good, cheap popcorn maker in the UK?
Q. My popcorn maker has broken. It was brilliant - a plastic container that made popcorn in the microwave. Does anyone know if this kind of product is still available in the UK? If not, is there a budget-priced electric popcorn maker that is reliable? Popcorn is better for the waistline than cakes or chocolates, when watching television!!!

A. Put a couple of tablespoons of oil in a pot and add some popcorn kernels when the oil is hot. Put the lid on and it will pop. Shake it back and forth a few times while it is popping. Use medium heat.

Why is my homemade popcorn is hard and tough to bite through, how do I make softer popcorn?
Q. I just made homemade popcorn for the 2nd time using a pot on the stove. It is hard to bite through and some of them have a really hard center. Am I doing something wrong? Maybe using too much oil? Thanks!
Asked by CW - Wed Jun 10 13:45:15 2009 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Use 1/3 cup popcorn to 2 tbsp oil (olive oil is preferred). Cook the popcorn on MEDIUM heat only! Let a little of the steam to escape, and shake continuously when you start hearing popping. The best thing to do is to get the Wabash Valley Whirley-Pop Stovetop Popcorn Popper. I have this, and I LOVE it. Perfect popcorn every time, and no widows or orphans!

What's the best microwave popcorn that does not have butter?
Q. I have a student in my class with a dairy allergy. I want to have a popcorn party tomorrow. Any ideas on what kind of popcorn I should get?
Asked by PatsFanDiane - Thu Feb 14 20:18:23 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. One thing you could do is just buy popcorn kurnels, put them in a paper bag, and microwave them until they all pop. Then some salt and you're done! It's not as good as buttered popcorn obviously, but if I have a few friends over to watch a movie, I make it and we all love it! I hope this helps! :) -Nina

Why do the majority of Popcorn poppers on the market dont have an on/off switch?
Q. I am trying to buy a new hot air popcorn popper machine but I want one that dosnt take much space (slender) and isnt fancy (no cart design) and has an on off switch. The switch is important otherwise your pulling and plugging into an outlet which could eventually short the outlet due to the burns caused by the shorts. If your outlet burns out you could possibly cause a fire. But the majoirty of popcorn makers/poppers dont have on/off switchs. The ones they sell at wallmart, dont, most of the ones on amazon dont. Imagine having to plug in your ur computer and pull the plugg everything time u needed to use it.
Asked by Jorge - Fri Oct 12 07:56:12 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Here's why... Most people don't leave popcorn poppers sitting out in their kitchen. They don't use them often enough...so they unplug them anyway. Therefore, an on/off switch just adds cost but no value. You appear to be a heavy user...a small percentage of the market. It may be difficult for you to find one that is perfectly suited to your needs...I would look at a nicer store than Walmart. Even Target typically has a better high-end selection than Walmart.

Can I create my own microwave popcorn bags?
Q. Using popcorn kernels and a ziploc, can I create my own microwavable popcorn bags? Thanks.
Asked by BreadCollision - Thu Sep 6 17:11:28 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. No ... ziploc bag will not withstand the heat of popping corn. When I first began microwaving I used small brown paper lunch bags with 1/3 cup of unpopped corn, and a little butter flavored salt. Since then, I've learned that brown paper bags are made from recycled paper and often contain things that are not good for using with food. Presto makes a cornpopper that works in the microwave with a heavy paper cone on the bottom of the bowl. Use your favorite style of popping corn and a little salt if you wish; oil is not necessary unless you want it. The corn pops fast, no ugly chemicals and unwanted calories and easy to clean up. Much more economical than microwave popcorn in the bags and better for you and the environment. Easy enough for 9- [cont.]

A. I've never had sweet popcorn at the movies, so I don't know what kind you're referring to, but here's a couple of recipes that may help you. Enjoy!!! Caramel Popcorn 1-2 gallon prepared popcorn 2 cups brown sugar 1 cup butter 1/2 cup corn syrup or maple syrup 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup peanuts (Optional) Preheat oven to 250. Prepare popcorn and set aside. In a sauce pan bring to a boil brown sugar, butter and syrup. Boil at a slow boil for 5 minutes without stirring. Remove and add baking soda, salt, vanilla and peanuts. Pour over popcorn and toss. Lay out on greased cookie sheets and bake for 1 hour stirring every 20 minutes. Store in Large Zip Lock Bags. ___ … [cont.]

How to cook popcorn using mobile phones?
Q. I seen on You Tube that you can pop popcorn using 3 to 4 mobile phones. I have tried it and it never popped. Any suggestions on how you do it? Are you supposed to use certain phones?
Asked by mstevenson_05 - Sun Jun 8 11:41:26 2008 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Doesn't work. Don't bother trying it. And don't believe everything you see on YouTube. True, mobile phones do emit small amounts of radiation, but even if you multiplied this by a factor of several thousand, you would have nowhere near enough energy to pop the corn.

How do you make popcorn identical to the movie theater?
Q. None of the microwave bags come close... Do I have to buy my own popcorn machine and order the kernels from the same distributor they do? Whats the secret? Thanks.
Asked by CW - Tue Jun 2 05:52:23 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. No you do not have to buy a popcorn machine. You do have to buy coconut oil though. Buy regular popcorn, not microwave, and you can pop it in any heavy pan with a tight fitting lid. Put the pan on the highest heat setting of your stove. Add coconut oil, then the unpopped pop corn. Don't forget to put the lid on. It pops quickly and I never have any unpopped kernels. Shake the pan a little while it is popping so the unpopped kernels will fall to the bottom and pop. Pour melted butter over it and salt. It is ever bit as yummy as the theater popcorn. 1/4 cup of unpopped corn will make about 2 cups of popped corn.

How do I make popcorn like the movies?
Q. What kernals are used and how do you make the butter? I have a popcorn maker. Peace!
Asked by M H - Thu Aug 9 20:10:39 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I always use Orville Redenbacher's kernals. While the popcorn is popping, melt some real butter in a bowl in the microwave. Pour the popcorn into a brown paper grocery bag. Sprinkle on some salt & shake it up. Then pour the melted butter over the popcorn. Shake it up to evenly distribute the butter. Pour into a bowl & eat. Make sure to have plenty of napkins handy...LOL!

I basically just want to be able to read it and determine "my popped bag of popcorn is ..." Thanks much! Incidently, does the popcorn somehow gain or lose calories when popped?
Asked by tiger.zebra - Sun Sep 3 20:13:23 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. microwave popcorn is made with a chemical lining that is sprayed into the bag when it is packaged so it will pop. it is also full of fat and will raise your chelesterol like no other as well as put you well onto your way to developing clogged arteries. only gain here is in bad health, why not pop it naturaly on the stove, or in an air popper, then top it off with ( I cant beileve its not butter), unless of course your are at the movies this requires ex pop and ex butter along with a coke

Q. I want popcorn. Microwave is busted. How can I make some popcorn? Don't just say oven or something like that... give me details on how exactly the popcorn should be prepared.
Asked by world_dominator91 - Wed Jul 1 12:43:31 2009 - - 41 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Easy, easy. Just bust out a stockpot (large is best) and glop in maybe 3-5 tbs. of oil (I like olive oil). Then add the popcorn (I have a 3 qt. pot and use about 2 1/2 full handfuls of kernels). So that the corn doesn't burn, hold the pot over the burner (close to it, but not on it) and keep shaking it so that the kernels are moving. Once they stop popping, pop off the lid, add some salt and/or whatever seasoning you want (parmesan cheese and garlic salt...mmm). CONSUME!
