What would it cost to design, build and manufacture a new vehicle?
Q. If a company were to design, test, build and produce a car, what would it cost for the following: - To design the car from scratch (either purchasing an existing engine or designing a new one), - To purchase all the equipment to produce the vehicles, - The cost to make each vehicle The car would be similar size to a Vauxhall Astra 5 dr, 1.6 diesel engine. Any rough ideas?

A. 175 million to design and build the DELorean. and that was 35 years ago, so more than double that today.

What are the advantages/disadvantages for leasing a new vehicle, rather than buying?
Q. I see on TV you get low payments when you lease a new vehicle. I don't mind getting a new car every 3 yrs, I just wonder if there are any hidden costs when returning it?

A. Pay cash for your cars. Payments are a good way to stay broke or get broke. NEVER lease a car, or borrow money to buy one. If you are only going to keep your cars for 3 years and you dont drive more than 15K/year just buy used cars for cash that somebody else was stupid enough to lease. You will pay about 60% of the cost of a new one and it will still be under warranty. After another 3 years it will only have about 70K on it and you will still get decent trade value to buy another nearly new car. By paying cash you can put your 'payment' money in a good growth and income Mutual fund and retire early. Crunch the numbers...see what that payment is REALLY costing you. A $325.00 car payment if invested instead at just 10% return for 30 years… [cont.]

A. UPDATE: 04/11/09: I got one already it's called a "Golf Cart"... Get ready for $5.00 plus gas again (maybe even higher) this summer, because a "Golf Cart" - oops, I mean a "Smart Car" will be the only thing that you will be able to buy anymore (even if you want to or not) thanks to the Unions (who give money to the dems), the dems in congress and Obama. Congress recently passed the land protection act, (signed into law by Obama) which keeps the US from drilling for more oil (which will lower gas & oil prices), thus increasing our dependence on foreign oil (from the Saudies, who can set prices to whatever they want). Of course, congress & obama will blame big oil companies (not themselves) for the high prices and the major news media… [cont.]

Is it better to buy a used vehicle or a new vehicle when your a first time buyer?
Q. My sister wants to buy a vehicle in the next couple months but shes not sure if she should go used or new.. She has pretty good credit and she would be a first time buyer.. Do you get a lower interest rate when buying new.. Any feedback will help, Thanks.

A. Always buy used vehicle it doesn't matter if you are first time buyer or what. Unless you are a million air then buy whatever it does not matter. But i suggest buy used, I mean it does not have to be used alot, it could just have like 1000 miles. The reason is simply this the min the car is driven off the lot a brand new car this is. The min it has 1 mile on it the value of the car usually drops 2-5 thousand dollars depending on the car. If you buy a car and drive it off the lot and make u turn at the next traffic lights and want to see it back to the dealer he will not pay you what you paid he will pay you about 2-5 thousand dollar less depending on the car. So never buy a brand new car.

A. If you replaced an old insured car with a new one, there is a grace period (usually up to 30 days) where the old insurance will cover the new car. If you didn't have a policy before, you must insure immediately

Would a dealer pay my balloon payment on my financed vehicle when leasing a new vehicle?
Q. I currently have a $13,000 balloon payment due on my financed vehicle. If I were interested in leasing a new vehicle, would the dealer pay the balloon and put any excess amount toward the lease?
Asked by bimmerguy105 - Tue Aug 26 07:34:41 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. There is no Excess there. You owe the bank 13K. So if you expect the Dealer to pay for that, he's likely to make you buy the next car and roll this into the price of the new car. There is a Very VERY high chance of him not leasing at ALL. There is no such thing as free lunch. If he paid for the loan, how is he or the new bank expected to recover it ? You want to lease the new car. So you don't own that car. So they can't put a lien on that car. So they just can't do a lease on the new one.

A. Yes your existing insurance will cover you providing you have full coverage on the previous vehicle. If not then notify your insurance company ahead of time and they can take care of any paperwork that you can take with you when you pick up the car. If the office is far then while at the dealer ask if your insurance can fax temporary paperwork just in case you are pulled over or are in an accident. Good Luck!...

A. Legally...a vehicle that went from manufacturer to dealer to you with no changes in ownership between is a NEW vehicle, even if purchased the following year. It is considered a "New" car until the dealership sells it... After all, the last '09 came off the production line in what...September? However, no one ever said that a bureaucracy necessarily needs brains or to make sense... Good Luck!

I was never issued a NJ inspection sticker cause I was told that it's a USED vehicle and i have to take it myself. taking it myself wasn't the issue. However, I would like to know is a leftover vehicle new or is it used? ps. my buyers paper and finance paper all say i purchased a new vehicle.

Good Luck!
